Seals thermostat cover to engine block preventing coolant loss. Original part 6H3-12414-A1-00 superseded by 62Y-12414-01-00, 62Y-12414-00-00, and 65W-12414-00-00. Often included in thermostat service kits with 6H3-12411 thermostat body and 688-12412 seal. Required for engine cooling system integrity; replace whenever thermostat cover is removed.
