This gasket prevents coolant leakage between engine block sections and maintains proper cooling system integrity. Fits Johnson and Evinrude engines rated 85-235 horsepower from the 1970s-1990s era. Superseded by Sierra 18-2547. Also replaces part numbers 972 and 520-03. Installation requires proper torque specifications to prevent water ingress into the powerhead.
